Lying on Resumes: Poll Results
4/25/2008
Last week we asked readers about applicants lying on resumes. Here's what we found out: - Have you ever discovered that an applicant lied on his or her resume? All of the employers that responded to this question said yes.
- If you answered yes, what did the person lie about or falsify? Several employers reported discovering more than one type of lie. Here's the breakdown:
Education: 50%
Past Employment: 60%
Convictions: 20%
Qualifications: 40%
Other (please describe): 40%
Some of the responses included discovering lies about credit history, the reason for leaving a prior job, salary history, and having been fired.
