From hurricanes and fires to earthquakes and floods, many disasters have a lasting impact on the people in their path. However, many employers forget to include HR in their business continuity and disaster preparedness planning. They're ready to deal with physical damage, financial losses, and operational hazards - but they've left their people out of the equation.

When disaster strikes, your organization's survival may depend upon your ability to guide your workers through the crisis, getting them back on their feet and back to work as quickly as possible.

Join us for a comprehensive 90-minute audio conference. Our two experts - both nationally recognized HR consultants who wrote a comprehensive book last year on HR disaster planning - will provide practical, nuts-and-bolts information that California employers can use to help create an effective HR emergency plan. You'll learn how to build the business case for your leaders to give HR a strategic role in business continuity and disaster preparedness planning. We'll also walk you through the most common mistakes employers make in emergencies (and give you proven tips for avoiding them).

Plus, you'll have the chance at the end of the call to pose your own questions about HR disaster planning - on the phone, or via email.

YOU AND YOUR COLLEAGUES WILL LEARN:

  • Why HR must take a leadership role when disasters happen
  • The management skills and competencies you'll need to guide your employees through a crisis
  • How to anticipate your workers' physical, financial, emotional, and psychological needs in the aftermath
  • How you can plan ahead to handle payroll, benefits, and taxes during a crisis (and remain in compliance with California and federal laws in the process)
  • The best HR tools for disasters, from employee wallet cards and EAPs to contingent HR policies and employee contact lists
  • When to improvise and throw your best-laid plans out the window to get your workforce back on the job
  • How to test your HR disaster plans (and fix any problems you find)
