It's all over the headlines: The avian flu virus is rapidly spreading to bird populations around the world and has begun infecting humans. Some health experts are predicting a pandemic - a global outbreak of disease.

The possibility of a flu pandemic raises unusual and complex concerns about how to protect employee health and your organization's economic well-being. Are you prepared?

Have you considered how you could continue to fill customer orders if 25% of your workforce was out sick? Do you have educational efforts in place to help contain the spread of disease? Would your leave policies encourage workers to self-quarantine rather than come to work when they might be contagious with a serious illness?

Join us for an information-packed, 90-minute audio conference. We've brought together two leading experts to advise you on these important concerns:

  • Dr. John Howard, Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Dr. W. Smith Chandler, SPHR, an occupational medicine physician with the Commonwealth Occupational Safety and Health Associates

Drs. Howard and Chandler will explain the science behind a flu pandemic, how such a pandemic could affect your workplace, and the steps you can take to prepare for it - now. At the conclusion of the call, you'll have the opportunity to submit your specific questions directly to these two experts, via phone or email.

YOU'LL LEARN:

  • How to separate the avian flu hype from the science and focus on what you should really be concerned about
  • The signs and symptoms of pandemic flu, and how it differs from seasonal flu
  • How a flu pandemic could affect the U.S. - and your California workforce
  • The policies and plans you need in place now
  • How to put together a comprehensive pandemic response policy
  • The best ways to prepare your company and employees for a global disease outbreak

ABOUT YOUR SPEAKERS:
